UPI and online payment fraud (India) — first steps

What to do after a UPI or online payment scam: secure money, save proofs, reporting options, and how to ask for general guidance — educational only; refunds are never guaranteed.

Act on money and accounts first

Call your bank or UPI app support, freeze cards or UPI if advised, change passwords from a safe device, and save transaction IDs, screenshots, SMS, and chat logs. Speed matters for payment disputes.

Reporting pathways people use

National cybercrime reporting portals and local police complaints are common next steps. Keep report numbers. Exact processes differ by case and location. This page does not file reports for you.

Never share OTP or remote access

Scammers often ask for OTP, PIN, or screen-sharing. Do not enter OTP on Adhiwakta or any site claiming to “reverse” a transaction instantly. No honest platform needs your OTP.

How Adhiwakta fits

After securing accounts, describe the incident on Ask (Consumer/cyber) for general guidance. We do not guarantee refunds, arrests, or recovery. Not a law firm; not formal advice.
