Privacy policy
This policy covers the website www.adhiwakta.com and the Adhiwakta Android app (the app opens the same website). Adhiwakta is a legal information and guidance platform. It is not a law firm and does not guarantee any outcome.
1. Information you give us
- Ask a question form: your name, mobile number, optional email, optional city and state, the legal area you pick, your question, your language, the page you sent it from, the previous page (referrer) and the time. This is sent over HTTPS to a private Google Sheet that only Adhiwakta can access, so we can read your question, reply and, where suitable, share it with an independent advocate for general guidance. You are then taken to WhatsApp with a prefilled message; what you send on WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
- Advocate join form (for advocates only): name, mobile number, email, Bar Council enrolment details, courts, practice areas, region and languages. Used only to verify enrolment and contact the advocate. It is never published.
- AI assist (/ai): the text you type is processed to suggest clarifying questions and a draft question. We do not log this text. If an AI model provider is enabled, the text is sent to that provider only to generate the response. Please do not type ID numbers, bank details or other sensitive data.
- Voice input: if you tap the microphone, speech is converted to text by your browser or phone (for example Google in Chrome). We receive only the final text, and only if you submit the form.
2. Tools that stay on your device
The legal notice explainer, calculators, legal notice generator and document maker run in your browser. Text you enter in these tools is not sent to our servers.
3. Information collected automatically
- Analytics: Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and simple events (for example which button was tapped). It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.
- Advertising measurement: we use the Google Ads tag to measure whether our ads lead to visits or questions. Google may set cookies and process browser or device identifiers under Google's privacy policy. You can control ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com.
- Security logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) processes your IP address to deliver the site and to block abuse (rate limiting). In our own logs IP addresses are masked.
- On your device: we store your language choice (English/Hindi) and whether you dismissed the install banner. This stays in your browser.
4. How we use it
- To read and respond to your question and, where suitable, connect you with an independent advocate for general guidance.
- To keep the service secure, prevent spam and fix problems.
- To understand which pages help people and improve them.
- We do not sell your personal data and we do not use your question for advertising.
5. Who we share it with
- An independent advocate, only the details needed for them to give general guidance on your question. Any advocate–client relationship is only between you and that advocate, and only if you both expressly agree.
- Service providers that run the service for us: Vercel (hosting), Google (Sheets/Apps Script storage and Google Ads measurement) and, if enabled, an AI model provider for the AI assist.
- Authorities, if Indian law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
Questions and advocate applications are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up, and normally for no more than 24 months, unless the law requires longer. Analytics data is aggregated.
7. Your choices and rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent. Write to us with your reference ID (for example ADH-XXXX) or the mobile number you used. We aim to act within 30 days.
8. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Submissions are stored in a private, access-restricted sheet. No system is perfectly secure, so please share only what is needed for your question.
9. Children
Adhiwakta is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the effective date below.
