Shikayat Kahan Karein? — where do I complain in India?
Pick your problem and see the complaint ladder: Step 1 (the first free or low-cost step, usually a written complaint to the entity itself — keep proof), Step 2 (the official escalation forum or portal) and Step 3 (further escalation) — plus public helplines, official portals, documents to keep ready, and a shareable WhatsApp Status card. Runs in your browser. Educational facilitation only — not legal advice. In danger, call 112.

FAQs
- What is Shikayat Kahan Karein?
- A free bilingual tool that shows where to complain in India for 15 common problems — a three-step ladder (complain to the entity, official forum or portal, further escalation), public helplines, official portals, documents to keep ready, a WhatsApp Status-size card and a ready Hindi WhatsApp message. Educational facilitation only — not legal advice.
- Do I always have to start with a written complaint to the company or office?
- Often yes. Many forums, such as the RBI Integrated Ombudsman, expect you to complain to the bank or NBFC first and approach RBI only if the complaint is rejected or not answered within 30 days. Keep proof of every complaint. Rules differ by forum, so check the official site.
- What if the police refuse to register my FIR?
- For a cognizable offence, give a written complaint at the station and ask for a receipt. If the station still refuses, a written complaint can be sent to the Superintendent of Police under BNSS section 173(4), and then an application can be made to the Magistrate under BNSS section 175(3). This is a general map, not legal advice.
- Are the portals and helplines official?
- The tool links only to well-known official government domains and shows public government helplines (112, 1930, 1915, 181, 1091, 1098, 14567, 15100, 14448). Official portals, rules and time limits change — always verify on the official site.
- Does Adhiwakta file the complaint or send a lawyer?
- No. Adhiwakta is a citizen legal-help facilitation platform, not a law firm. It does not file complaints for you, appear before any authority or court, or guarantee any outcome. Nothing you pick here is uploaded by this tool.
